Just Ask! Be different, be brave, be you Author: Sotomayor, Sonia Illustrator: Lopez, Rafael

Reading this book made me emotional; I am an emotional person when it comes to storytelling. I liked that the book began with an example of how people are different and have different needs, just as plants do. This sets the scene to describe different children and what their needs are while also making it okay to address these needs just as one would do with plants and their needs. The book also concluded with this analogy of plants and humans being unique to one another while making the world a stronger place. I haven't identified any dislikes from this piece of literature. My interpretation of the book is that it encourages children to be curious and ask questions about others and new things to learn from. As mentioned on page 27, “When something seems different or new, I ask my parents or my teachers, and they help me to understand, especially if my friends don't feel ready to explain".
