Rainbow Fish was one of my favorite books growing up. I chose to read
the bilingual version of this book this time around. I believe this book
represents diversity in the rainbow fish, which are different from other fish
with their colorful scales. I liked that this book emphasized sharing with
others the gifts that one possesses to spread happiness and that being humble
and kind to others are important qualities. However, something that I now as an
adult, am more aware of is the message they are conveying in the book of
sharing with others to be liked or accepted by them. Today, I know that having
healthy relationships requires accepting one another not by what they possess
but by accepting them for who they are authentically.
