This book was huge on diversity, which is my main focus on the Blog. It also took accepting others' differences to another level by not only giving the message to accept others as they are but also to think of them as an extension of yourself. The author achieved this with the message of "Ubuntu", which means “I am because you are," in the Nguni languages of isiZulu and isiXhosa; the Author uses a tone of kindness and unity in the literature. From the words to illustration, it embodies its message throughout. As a girl who grew up in several geographical locations, I resonated with the illustrations of children from different neighborhoods or geographic locations. I feel this book sends a powerful message that I feel needs to be spoken about more. Society must consider others more and unite as a community rather than divide. teaching children about kindness to others, unity, and the deeper meaning of helping others does you well as a person, and hurting others takes away from you as a person was very impactful.
